Partnership contract with Meridium

n the electrical industry operating on the liberalized market the role of the efficient asset management is becoming more and more important. The renewed asset management is supported by several new IT products on the market. Considering the related demands of the customers, Geometria gives high priority to the network asset management and the adaptation of its up-to-date methods. The partnership contract signed with the European subsidiary of the American Meridium company in March 2010 fits into this process. In the frame of the contract Geometria has become the Hungarian representative of the RCMO (Reliability Centered Maintenance and Optimization) and the APM (Asset Performance Management) decision-supporting systems of Meridium.

Meridium has been established in the United States, its headquarter is in Roanoke, Virginia, however it has local agencies on every continent. The European office is just beside the central site of SAP, in Waldorf, not by chance: both products of Meridum can be integrated with the enterprise management system of SAP. In 2007 RCMO has received the title of SAP Endorsed Business Solution. In addition to SAP PM (or EAM) both, RCMO and APM can be integrated with other technical registration systems as well, whether it is a GIS-based product (Intergraph G/Tech, GE Smallworld) or an alphanumerical asset registration system (IBM MAXIMO).

In RCMO the users can choose the technical objects necessary from the registration and the related already planned and performed interventions in an integrated and “seamless” way. Then the systems to be examined can be built up in RCMO. There is also a possibility for determining the standard RCM process and the different technical interventions. After approval the technical interventions will get back into the registration as direct orders.

APM is the general decision-supporting system of Meridium which can be easily customized for any industry or utility company with its framework and modular structure. The system covers the whole process of asset management from the strategic planning through the specific expenditure planning to its realization. The system can be integrated into RCMO as well, giving it a specific graphical display and parameterization interface it supports the efficient management of the different versions of the network intervention plan.

In the frame of the partnership recently we took part in a RCMO and APM training and the system has been installed in Geometria. According to our knowledge our goal is that if the examination of the asset management’s process discovers the necessity of RCM as a method, then we could recommend our customers a solution which has good references and can be integrated with the system of SAP.
