Fõvárosi Vízmûvek Zrt. MIR reconstruction phase 1

Significant changes of the last decade concerning company business processes and the obsolescence of technologies made the recostruction of MIR system necessary at Fõvárosi Vízmûvek Zrt.
MIR network registration system used at Fõvárosi Vízmûvek Zrt. – followed HÁLIR, digital network registration system first installed at home public utility companies – was developed more than 10 years ago. Following, MIR was developed continually and integrated in different company processes, business activities of Fõvárosi Vízmûvek Zrt. Significant changes of the last decade concerning company business processes and the obsolescence of technologies (e.g. GIS) applied in network – registration systems made the recostruction of MIR system necessary.

The new MIR is built on Oracle 11g Enterprise Edition database – management system and graphic tools of Bentley PowerMap v8i.

The attributes of the developed standardized system are the following: the installed graphic editorial work station is available from its interface, at the same time it is possible to open map windows, to edit data sheets, to compile queries, to access sectorial functions and it contains the components managed separately earlier. By the design and construction of MIR system, as basic requirement the services of previous version have to be available in the new system as well.

During consultations with the experts of Fõvárosi Vízmûvek Zrt. concerning the elaboration of the concept several new demands or rather new requirements emerged, so complete functions and accordingly the database will be converted and enlarged.


The MIR reconstruction project started in 2008. First the short – and medium term development concept was elaborated, which summarized the informations necessary for business and technological decisions needed for the development.

The logic and physical system design of the new MIR system was made on the basis of the concept. The development started in September 2009.

Within the first phase – the delivery was on 15th december 2009 – the new user interface, the Oracle developments and the database migration were executed.
